School Pride Since 1944
Students brainstormed and generated many solutions for their multifunctional space and designed a scaled diagram of the Mo’adon.
The Day School originally opened its doors as the “Foundation School” when the Jacksonville Jewish Center was located in the Springfield area of the city. The Foundation School was renamed Solomon Schechter Day School before it became the Martin J. Gottlieb Day School. While the school has been renamed twice and moved once, its mission has remained the same – providing a high quality secular and Jewish education grounded in Jewish values.
From the schools inception, its graduates have gone on to serve important roles around the world. Teachers, doctors, lawyers, scientists, artists, and athletes--our alumni have left their mark in many different ways. Alumni report back that they are grateful for their education and the strong Jewish foundation they received while attending the school. Our alumni continue to practice tikkun olam and mitzvot, Jewish values they learned as students at our school. Many of our alumni now have children and grandchildren attending the school. Some of our alumni have even returned to teach in the school.

About Marty Gottlieb
Martin J. Gottlieb grew up around the Jacksonville Jewish Center and graduated from the Center’s Solomon Schechter Day School in 1984. He was a successful businessman who took great pride in his Jewish heritage and its honored traditions. Martin found immense pleasure in serving others, both within the Jewish community and the greater Jacksonville community. He was known for his integrity and compassion, leaving a lasting impact on everyone he touched.

Laurie Preschool is founded on the commitment and passion for education embodied by Laurie DuBow and his family. Mr. DuBow is highly respected in the local nonprofit community and has always been a strong supporter of Jewish education. Our community is stronger because of his long-standing dedication to children and education. His motto, “It’s all about the children,” guides the decision-making at Laurie Preschool and the Martin J. Gottlieb Day School.
